Hubby needed to run into town this morning for a few things. Look what he saw on his way home!
We have a big dehydrator 2 miles down the road from us, and they had tossed out 2 big prune boxes. They would be perfect for a series of big compost piles that Hubby has been planning lately. All he needed was...... can you guess?? The wood! Anyway, fast forward 30 minutes, and we unloaded first one prune box.....
And then another!
Maybe, just maybe, the compost bins will be finished next weekend.
Free is good. I love free. Long live finding free stuff!
ReplyDeleteLove It! I planted potatoes in the 4 bins my son's pecan trees came in last year. The nursery wanted them back and I said they'd have to wait until after potato harvest! They waited and ended up giving me a couple bins with rotted out bottoms...which were perfect for me!
ReplyDeleteHa! Those boxes look almost identical to the couple of compost bins we built. Happy composting! It sure is nice when people put stuff like that out for others to take who can use it. So much better than throwing them in a burn pile. As Jane says, free is good!
ReplyDeleteWow! What a lucky find. Enjoy making some compost!
ReplyDeleteJane, my oldest son always calls it, "Free.99". Cracks me up!
ReplyDeleteLynda, sounds like a win-win! Awesome.
MP, ahh, great minds think alike.
Elzaan, it was pretty lucky! I'm looking forward to turning lots of green waste into some awesome compost.
As you probably know, four pallets and a few coat-hangers and you've got a compost bin. It looks to me like yours came ready-built, though!
ReplyDeleteYes..free is da bomb, no doubt. We made our 3 compost bins from free wood pallets from the local lumber yard. Still standing, 6 years later. (Well...maybe leaning just a little, lol)
ReplyDeleteI love free! We built free cold frames this fall. What's better is that your bins are pretty much "no assembly required".
ReplyDeleteLucky you! What you were looking for and they were right there! Not often we get anything free nowadays, is it. Good luck with your compost bins!
ReplyDeleteFree is always a good price!
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the free wood sign and the words "compost bin", I knew I'd found another kindred spirit in the blog world. I will be back.
DeleteWhat an awesome find! I love free things, but especially anything wood related. So versatile!
