Gardening-it's one of my hobbies. I also enjoy quilting, cooking, and of course kids. This is a conglomeration of those things, and sometimes more!

Death and Destruction
I'm feeling very brutal right now, sitting here in front of the computer, eating my bowl of Life cereal for lunch. This morning, I spent about 3-4 hours in the garden. I pulled weeds. Ripped them right up by their roots. Poor things. They were just trying to survive. Hopefully, I put an end to that. Then I sprayed the beans with soapy water. I noticed last night that they have aphids. And, they were being helped along by the ants. Hah! Hopefully, I put an end to most of them. Then I checked on my squash blossoms. ACK! Cucumber beetles! Right inside my squash blossoms, looking very innocent-like. I squished them. That for sure put an end to them! Then I went looking for more. Death and destruction, garden style. Gotta love it!

This post made me laugh. So much delight in taking care of business. good for you and thanks for the laugh.
ReplyDeleteWay to go, Lori, for taking care of business! I've given up on the cucumber beetles in my garden. There are so many of them I can't imagine squishing every single one of them.
ReplyDeleteYou are too funny! But glad you are taking care of business..let me go post what I/we have been doing...
ReplyDeleteLOL! Lori goes to war! :) It's either the bugs/weeds - or the vegetables - isn't it?! Seems like the only vegetable I've tried to grow here, that is not attacked by some bugs or snails, are leek. I have 3 chili pepper plants that has to be transferred from the pot to the garden, but I dread the snails.....
ReplyDeleteAstrid, I hear you on the snails! I sometimes go out in the early morning, and go snail hunting. I pick them up, and then take them to my chickens. They love them! I've also heard of setting a small lid filled with beer level with the ground. The beer attracts them, and they fall in and drown. Never tried this, but have heard it works. Until they discover the 12 step method!
