Barbequed Steak and Zucchini

My last day of school was Friday. Life is good. Then Geoff went to the grocery store after work and found some steak on special. So, he bought it to barbecue for dinner over the weekend. What a guy! You know what's even better? He's been doing the barbecuing! I didn't think life could get much sweeter than that, and then we went to the Farmer's Market on Saturday and found the nicest looking zucchini. Barbecued steak and zucchini, AND it's summer vacation? My world is just about perfect! Here's a glimpse: steak marinading in a bbq base- (enough for leftovers tonight!)

Zucchini marinading in a beer/olive oil, herb base-

Tools of the trade-these are "must haves" -- Little tongs, big tongs, really big platter, oil for seasoning the grate, and a glass of wine.

Nice grill marks, dude!

  1. What is the BBQ base? And I want your recipe for the marinade for the zucchini! We just usually put garlic and onion and salt and pepper on it and evoo and on the grill..and wine, well that is a must for a bbq! Well done with the marks, there Geoff! Any zucchini bread coming north, Missy?

  2. Hi Sweets! I'll ask G when he comes home what he did for the marinade. I know he started with Cattleman's bbq sauce. For the zucchini, all I did was mix chili flavored olive oil, beer, salt, pepper, onion, garlic, fresh parsley and basil. As for goodies going north, with these squash at $2 a pound, not much is going into bread! They were good, though!

  5. Becca; no, the stuff we got you was from a local place. What Geoff put on this was actually what we use for wild meat, although this wasn't wild. The seasoning is called, "Wildeats" and there's a whole line. I think we've tried most, if not all of them.

Astrid; my summer has officially started! It's getting warmer--ok, hot! My garden is in full swing, and I've even taken a nap already! I'm off until the end of August... the 23rd or some such date.
